USS MacDonough (DLG-8 / DDG-39) was a guided missile destroyer of the United States Navy, named after Commodore Thomas MacDonough, hero of the Battle of Lake Champlain (1814). She was commissioned in 1961 and served with distinction for three decades, participating in operations from the Caribbean to the Western Pacific before decommissioning in 1992.
